Hawaiian lei decorate the stone memorial dedicated to the service members who sacrificed their lives in Operation Red Wings. Service members and family members based in Hawaii commemorated the 8th anniversary of the event that claimed the lives of 11 SEALs and eight Soldiers from the U.S. Army 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) in Afghanistan's Hindu Kush during the operation by completing a five-mile formation run. Benjamin Armstrong, author of 21st Century Mahan: Sound Military Conclusions from the Modern Era, signs copies of his book after giving a lecture at the National Museum of the United States Navy.
